Well of Salvation x ((Mary Vertz x (Blue Ambition x Healing Waters) x Sign of Jonah) – Seedling 6-4 Newness of Life was special from its maiden bloom in 2020. It was the “bluest” flower we had seen in the garden, and we immediately spread pollen on everything we could. Over the years, the flowers were consistently beautiful, and Newness of Life has been a key genetic piece in our hybridizing program. We have shown pictures of seedling 6-4 (now Newness of Life) in many presentations and on Facebook for several years so this plant and its beauty is no secret. As a garden plant, Newness of Life is outstanding – scapes and buds are good but the flowers are nearly perfect every bloom and we look forward to seeing the blooms every day in bloom season. We have not allowed our garden clump of Newness of Life to exceed 4 fans in an effort to propagate it rapidly. I can envision a mature clump of Newness of Life being a showstopper in the garden with many perfect blossoms displayed at the same time. As a hybridizing plant, Newness of Life excels in being both pod and pollen fertile. In 2025, we are collecting large pods from Newness of Life and are eager to see the results. In 2020, we took the first blooms of Newness of Life and spread pollen to more mature plants. We have several potential introductions from those initial crosses and have seen many more fine seedlings in subsequent years. In most cases, Newness of Life will produce seedlings that exceed the parents in beauty and plant habit. Going back to grandparent Sign of Jonah, Newness of Life shows pale lavender or white patches on the sepals. This is a showy trait, and it is passed on from Newness of Life to its offspring. Seedling 502-12 is an offspring of Newness of Life, and it is one of the most unique seedlings we have seen with a large white patch on the sepal along with a white edge on the sepal." From Korth: "Medium purple with large lavender watermark and edge, green throat. (Servant to All x Sign of Jonah) My Servant Jonah is a product of two of our finest breeding introductions. The lavender watermark is similar to Servant to All while the near white patches on the sepals come from Sign of Jonah. The name also reflects both parents and is a tribute to the biblical prophet Jonah who was a servant of Yahweh even if he was reluctant. As a garden plant, My Servant Jonah excels. The flowers open well, and the scapes are tall and well branched. It was hardy enough to survive our 2025 winter without missing a beat. The genetics of My Servant Jonah and the ease of setting pods make this plant a powerful breeder. We have several potential introductions from My Servant Jonah and one of our most spectacular seedlings from 2025 had My Servant Jonah as the pod parent. From Korth: "Rich pink with lighter pink band around large green throat. What a joy Neon Splendor is in the early season garden. When we started in daylilies over 30 years ago, pink daylilies were muddy gray or tan with pink overtones. Now we enjoy this true neon pink daylily with large size, a lighter pink watermark, and large green throat. Daylilies have come a long way. Neon Splendor has long been a favorite here for its bright color. In 2024, we had a lot of plants lined out in preparation for sales in 2025 and for several weeks in the early season, it was the star of the garden. Flowers opened well in a variety of weather conditions, held up well in the hot sun, and we had rebloom on some plants. We started hybridizing with Neon Splendor the last few years and observed some promising seedlings from it this summer.
