We thought it was not going to live up to the thick fancy frills of Korth’s pic. Were we ever wrong! HUUUUUGE and frilled edge on every flower, opening up very well on a daily basis.
Although it has a nice scape, we crossed it with taller cultivars and some toothy ones with green undertones.
From Korth: “The flowers of Leo Bordeleau have the largest ruffled edge of any in the garden. The ruffles are 1.25″ wide but more importantly the flowers open up consistently. (…) The beautiful flowers have colors that range from bright yellow to polychrome with a blush of pink. The flowers have easily-fertile pollen but are difficult pod parents. We have seen wonderfully ruffled seedlings using Leo Bordeleau as a pollen parent. Hardy with large fans but slow to multiply.” Dormant. Pix from Korth.
