From Benz: "This bold burgundy red beauty with its big green throat and engulfed in twisting ornate chartreuse green teeth was destined for introduction the first day it bloomed. Scapes are strong and erect, and extremely well branched with 3-4 laterals and about 30 buds. The 6" blooms on UNLEASH THE KRAKEN are done in an attractive shade of burgundy red with a vivid lime green throat and just drip with green teeth and lace. This bloom invokes the impression of some fearsome predator from a bygone age. A beautiful flower, and fertile both ways. Unusual teeth genetics from crossing BORN TO RUN with one of my super teeth breeder INDOMINUS REX. Plants are large in size, with arching blue-green foliage. Reblooms." Dormant. -
This is the tetraploid-converted version of Deep Impact, done by Trimmer in 2017. Same lovely bright yellow with a dark maroon eye and a very large bright yellow applique throat as with the diploid version, but stronger. Dormant. Pix from hybridizer.

John Kinnebrew Jr. picked a bloom of Spacecoast Scarlet Desire last May when I was down in Florida and set it on the table where we kept our hybridizing supplies. Each time I came back to it, I was struck by this Voluptuous Beauty. It just Glows, its velvety thick substance and saturated red color combined with its size- blooms literally fill your hand- draws you in again and again with its magnificence. Spacecoast Scarlet Desire, at 99 percent double, is an important daylily in our hybridizing program.
