The eye shows phenomenal colour saturation in imperial purple, above the yellow to green throat. The EMO form is full, quite flat, overlapped, and widespread. GSTQ is a very fertile parent both ways. From Pierce: "For most of my adult life I have been telling people that as a daylily hybridizer I breed for bigger and better and am ultimately looking for a flower that “Genetically jumps the fence”. Well that day has arrived in SWAN SONG. I remember walking the seedling fields one morning and there she was… One white bloom in amongst a long cross of a lavender and a rose/pink flowers. As I got closer I could see how different she looked. No way was this just a white seed that had been mixed up. Here was a super heavy substance white with a 1% pink base, bright sparkles and green everywhere. Over half the throat, and into the ruffled petals as well. That was 4 years ago and I still just stare, and use her heavily. GUY'S SWAN SONG will set almost every flower, and she throws BETTER / BIGGER and TALLER! I have a future big white & green where the scape comes up to my chest. Every year I load her up with pods starting in April, May, then into July. That takes a lot of energy. I Harvest the pods, break her up and line her out in the full fun. We never use Banrot etc. and have not lost a plant. I say to you quite proudly; GUY'S SWAN SONG is priceless, for many, many reasons. Whites covered in green for me have become a whole new Program/Passion. (Harold Steen x Pinewood Sledgehammer) Harold’s Hammer is a result of crossing two of our outstanding introductions. The result is a beautiful flower with excellent performance. The appearance is similar to the slow growing and sold-out Pinewood Sledgehammer. The flower on Harold’s Hammer is a little smaller but is still a large flower at 6.5″. It opened great in the summer of 2025 and with good scapes, we knew it was time to introduce it. We have records of success using Harold’s Hammer as a pod parent, but we have not done a good job exploring it to its full potential. That is too bad for us because this plant has powerful genetics that should be put to use. With Tet. Rose F. From Korth: "Lavender petals with lavender blue eye and edge. Pinewood Miracle Worker was one of our most popular cultivars when introduced in 2024. Healer of Nations is the first (of many) introduction to come from Pinewood Miracle Worker. Healer of Nations is similar in color but has wider petals and a larger, more ruffled edge. The edge has 3 colors, going from purple to lavender to cream on the outside. As a garden plant, it is a standout. Extremely vigorous, this is the first tetraploid to be introduced from the 2020 bloom season. Obviously hardy here due to its rapid increase, it should grow well in a variety of climates. Blooms open well and the bud count is good for our northern climate. As a breeder, Healer of Nations is easily pod and pollen fertile. We had some initial success using pollen from its first bloom season, but 2024 was an eye-opener. 17 seedlings were selected for further evaluation (the most of any pod parent) with Healer of Nations as the pod parent. The seedlings were unique and beautiful with many having been noted as having excellent scapes in year one. We never saw Healer of Nations or its seedlings display any extra petal tissue. Even with Double Blessing as a parent, Healer of Nations does not seem to pass on any traits for those breeding doubles.
