Grew super well and bloomed exactly like on the main pix. Easy parent to work with. We crossed it with toothy cultivars like Mary Kathryn's Delight, Black Wolf, Battle of the Ages and Bob and Linda Giuliani. According to Gossard: "Flowers are rich black wine with a huge yellow green edge and yellow green throat. Some days, Spacecoast Vader's Saber can be near black. This is one of John's favorites. (Lord of Life x Heart of the Sea) Every once in a while, we have a daylily that is a significant jump past either parent. Steadfast Love exceeds pod parent Lord of Life with more lavender in color and multi-colored eye and edge. Steadfast Love exceeds pollen parent Heart of the Sea with a much larger eye and edge. Heavy texture and easy opening despite the large, ruffled edge add to the impressive traits of this flower. We recognized the uniqueness of this flower early on and have many beautiful seedlings out of Steadfast Love. It is easily pod and pollen fertile. If you enjoy fancy eyed and edged flowers, Steadfast Love will produce many hardy seedlings that are truly special. Below are some examples but we have many under evaluation. In the garden, the flowers are good openers on fine scapes and very showy. The heavy texture allows the flowers to withstand heat and rain. From Korth: "Deep brick red with green throat, red sepals, and cream toothy edge. Stones of Fire is our second introduction from Pinewood Flambeau. Pinewood Flambeau is a fine garden plant, but Stones of Fire exceeds it in flower size and scape height. The tall scapes stay upright and display the deep red flowers well. The flowers open well but need a little time in the morning to fully open – not an early morning opener. That is fine because the flowers look good throughout the day. As a breeder, Stones of Fire is fertile both ways. We have some excellent seedlings under evaluation in red and burgundy colors with more to bloom in 2027. The large toothy edge is passed on to the offspring making for some fun seedlings. The name Stones of Fire is a continuation of our rock/mineral theme going way back to one of our first introductions – Upon This Rock. We can trace the lineage of Stones of Fire back to Upon This Rock and we try to maintain the rock/mineral theme when Upon This Rock is in the background. The name is taken from the Old Testament book of Ezekiel 28:14 where Satan is described as blessed while walking on the Stones of Fire in the garden of Eden before he rebelled against God."
