  • From Gossard: "Blade Shadow features striking scarlet-wine blooms with a lighter watermark and a bold green throat for vivid contrast. The petals are edged with dramatic white and gold “fangs,” claws, hooks, and tentacles, and the recurved form makes this an exceptionally eye-catching variety. Its genetics trace back to my Tyrannosaurus Rex and its parents, tetra Emerald Starburst and Spacecoast Red Fang. Classified as an Unusual Form (UF) — primarily cascade, but it can vary, displaying both crispate and cascade traits." Semi-evergreen. 18-22 buds. Pix from Gossard.

  • According to Holmes: "BLOODSPORT is a medium melon pink on hotter days to a more purple shades on cooler days. The toothy greenish-gold edge always shows itself in our garden. This daylily was selected on maiden bloom. I was looking for a toothy daylily in the cross with improved color over BASS GIBSON. In my opinion BLOODSPORT captured this quality. I've used this daylily extensively in hybridizing and the seedlings have not disappointed. BLOODSPORT has been an outstanding parent and is very showy in the garden. Fertile both ways." • From Gossard: "Blue Beetle has creme pink flowers with a eye zone of charcoal, light blue, blue, lavender blue, lavender purple, purple, maroon and maroon red. Petals even have a start of a gold edge, see outside photo. Blue Beetle is my best introduction for 2010 for many reasons. One of the difficulties of hybridizing for Blue eyed daylilies is that they are blue in the morning and by noon they are more lavender. Blue Beetle is my best one which retains the blue eye in the afternoon, it was and still is my number 1 parent for blue daylilies. Substance is very good and flowers hold up to the evening hours. Thus, I consider Blue Beetle a real break though. Third of the way through bloom, it starts to double. Rebloom scapes can be fully double. Because it does not double all the time, it was not registered as a double. Blue Beetle's form is in between and can be utilized in round or narrow hybridizing." Semi-evergreen. 18-22 buds.

  • This one stunner should be introduced in 2027, according to it's divisions growth rate this summer after being lined up. It produces a unique flower where the true blue is emphasized by the contrast with the white base colour. Pretty much the same presentation on a daily basis, with very few "odd" flowers. More data later on this year. We currently have it growing in a rather shady area; we'll move it and see how it performs in full sun. Maybe a 2027 intro, maybe a 2028. Who knows. Stay put! • WOW WOW WOW! We're probably one of the few growers in North America to have had the privilege of working with this one. Finest from Kulpa. Grew really well for us. • Our flowers were actually a more saturated hue as what is seen here. We'll update with our own pix soon. Grape with lavender eye, lavender edge with silver and ivory wire, yellow to green throat. From Emmerich: "Instant rebloom on half the fans. Beautiful clear saturated Welch's grape; lavender eye and edge plus silver and ivory wire and has white sharks unless it is cool weather; yellow to green throat. It took me 5 years to notice that although it is a good opener it can take until 9AM to open on cold mornings, and there is also a small area without color at the end of each sepal. It is easily fertile both ways and a wonderful parent for hardy flowers with saturated color, chalky eyes, fancy edges, and good scapes." Dormant. Main pix from Emmerich. Others from us.

  • SORRY, SOLD OUT, so back to Display status... EXTREMELY RARE TET CONVERSION. BLOOMS FLAWLESSLY EVERY SINGLE DAY. POD AND POLLEN FERTILE. According to Douglas, about the dip form: "We knew this unusual form was going to be a special flower from it’s first bloom. Dubbed the BOSS of the garden when it first bloomed in 2010, the name BOSS HOGG stuck. Slightly ruffled coral petals with a lighter watermark that surrounds an extremely large bright green throat. Well branched and lots of buds for such a large flower. Nice thick scapes to hold them up. Producing some very nice seedlings! Diamond dusted. Fertile both ways. The waiting is list is long, so extremely limited. Better order fast!" Dormant. Winner of the Jeffcoat Hybridizer's Award in 2017, of the AHS Honorable Mention in 2018 with 83 votes and of the Award of Merit in 2021. THE STATS ARE FOR THE DIP FORM.
