Bitone with dark red petals, golden yellow sepals, and large golden yellow teeth. Fertile both ways. A lovely toothy that when established puts on a very nice show. Semi-evergreen. Pix from hybridizer. -
According to the hybridizers: "Flowers are red with lighter pink feathered tricolor eye zone and large white fangs, tentacles and shark's teeth tricolor edge. An exceptionally large green throat. An extremely difficult cross, pod parent is tetra Emerald Starburst. Larry grace conversion that I had to get several times in order to get a useable conversion. Finally isolated a pod fertile conversion. I got 2 seeds. Pollen was from Spacecoast White Fang, 2020 introduction that was $500 as well. Color, green throat, and toothy edge makes it the top of its class. Thus, the name, does not get any better than Tyrannosaurus Rex. According to Gossard: "Flowers are rose pink with a large lighter pink watermark and triple edge of pink, light rose and gold and green throat. The beauty of this daylily is amazing. One of the prettiest I have seen. Great bud count, branching, and northern hardy as well. Its only fault is that it can produce such a big edge it can hang more than I like. So I’ve been crossing with flowers like my Heavenly New Frontiers and tetra Cliff jumper to correct. Everyone that has seen it wants it so here it is. The hope is to produce great flowers with new genetics that will thrive in our northern climates. Many of these attempts fail but some are successful. 'My Living Hope' is a success story. We used the southern bred 'Cutting Loose' with the hope of incorporating its lovely color and form into our northern hardy flowers. The flowers of 'My Living Hope' are a clear lavender enhanced by a ruffled white edge and lighter watermark. Like many flowers in our garden, the petal color of MLH will vary with bloom season temperatures being darker in cool weather. MLH blooms early in the season for us but gives us another show a month later through rebloom. As a breeder, 'My Living Hope' is fertile both ways and has given us some fine seedlings." Dormant.
