There is a lot going on in BIG RED BULL, and best of all every bloom is perfection, opening perfectly!!! The color in the picture does have some purple shades in it, the RED is seen more with your own eye. A perfect daylily carrying ALL 8 of (my) required characteristics to become a Pierce introduction. A funny story. The first year she bloomed after seedling selection, a man came up to me and said he wanted to “Follow” this daylily. I said sure. With the blooms texture and all the branching, I could see why. What is especially beautiful and unique is the watermark, a watermelon/bubblegum white which repeats on the edging too. Deep dark pure purple with ruffled white edge and well-defined white watermark above green throat; fine white edge on sepals. The first summer, the only big fan we had sent not one, not two, but three scapes!!! THREEEEEE! We don't remember anything like that! A real delight in the garden. Pretty much the same face every single day. We crossed it heavily with more blueish flowers, namely Yoga Man, Sc. Peace Maker and Blueberry Icing. Rebloomed very well for us. From Korth: "The dominant feature in the flower is the large lavender eye that extends to the wide edge. Around the eye is a band of violet mirrored in the edge. The cream petal color is quite small but accents the other colors. In the garden, Celestial Waters is a little shorter than most of our plants making it an ideal plant for the border edge. The scapes are well budded and bloom above the foliage. We had reblooms in 2023. The foliage is dormant and hardy here in our harsh winters." Main pix from Korth. From Gossard's site: "Flowers are red with lighter red watermark and green throat. Heavy edge varies in color from white, chartreuse, and gold. A fabulous flower with a heavy edge seldom seen in the North. Sometimes huge angel wings appear. I have seen flowers hang occasionally.
